Standard print sizes
The right size starts with the dimensions of the finished product. Distinguish the size after trimming, the bleed and the area reserved for important elements when preparing your project.

Standard business cards
Texprim’s standard finished business card size is 3.5 × 2 in, or 88.9 × 50.8 mm. Custom sizes, materials and production requirements are discussed for your project.

This calculation example uses 1/8 in total bleed, or 1/16 in per side, as specified in several historical Texprim templates. The 1/8 in inset safe area is an illustrative guideline to confirm for the product. The applicable template’s dimensions and boundaries take precedence over this calculation; do not resize the PDF to impose a general margin. Depending on your software, finished size and bleed may be set separately; avoid adding bleed twice.
General recommendations, adapted to your product
These guidelines are not universal requirements. The product, size, printing process and supplier may need different settings. The applicable template’s dimensions, including its bleed, take precedence. Confirm compatibility with the current supplier, particularly for large-format printing.
Which dimensions should you provide?
Width, height and units
Give the width followed by the height of the finished product and specify the unit. One inch equals exactly 2.54 cm. This avoids confusing finished dimensions with dimensions that include production margins.
Open size and closed size
For a leaflet or folded document, specify the open sheet size and the closed finished size. Confirm the fold direction and panel layout with the project template.
Posters, panels, roll-ups and other materials
Specify your intended dimensions or ask for guidance. Models, stands and materials may have their own requirements. Ask for the size suited to the selected material and model.
Prepare your images and PDF
For small-format images, Texprim generally recommends 300 ppi at the final printed size. Vector elements do not need a 300 ppi resolution. Large-format printing may need different settings.
For four-colour process printing, prepare colours in CMYK. Small black text is generally C0/M0/Y0/K100. Use a high-quality PDF with embedded fonts and confirm any product-specific settings.
